Types of Grommets

We offer a wide range of grommet sizes to suit your needs. Small grommets are perfect for securing lighter items or for running thin cord through, while grommets for thick material can be used on heavyweight webbing for things like backpacks or tents. We use self piercing grommets that are faster and easier to install, saving you time and money. These metal grommets are typically brass finished, but there are other options available upon request.

Grommet Uses

You may be wondering what purpose a grommet serves on a hook and loop strap, or whether your application requires one. We use metal grommets for fabric because they are strong enough to punch through the material while also being malleable enough to be pressed into shape without damaging the grommet or the fabric.

Grommets serve a great purpose. Put simply, they provide a secure hole in a strap. Without a grommet, a grommet hole (or a die cut hole) could potentially cause fraying or after repeated use, could end up ripping the material, causing the strap to fail. The added metal grommets provide protection to that material, allowing the strap to function as intended while also serving as a hole. This grommet hole can be used to secure the strap to a wall or a bracket with a metal fastener like a screw. That way, the strap stays in place and doesn't get lost when switching out piping or cabling. Securing the strap to the wall also helps support the piping or cabling in place.

Grommet Straps

Another great use for a grommet is to run cord through the strap. The strap can be used to secure a cord or cable to an object like a bracket, tool, or facade for hanging signage. By running the cord through the grommet, the straps can be adjusted to fit different objects or moved into different positions. These are just a couple of the most common uses for metal grommets.
