Q: Which side of the VELCRO ® brand fastener is which?
A: The soft fuzzy side is the loop and rough side is the hook.The soft fuzzy loop side is sometimes called "pile" by the military.

Q: Are there different strengths of hook and loop material?
A: Yes, there are many strengths of VELCRO ® brand material from very weak to almost permanent. When you use very strong VELCRO ® brand fastener the cycle lifeis shorter than the weaker VELCRO ® brand fastener. Most applications use the hook 88 and loop1000 for an excellent combination of strength and cycle life.

Q: Does the pressure sensitive (peel and stick)(PS) adhesive work well on most surfaces?
A: Yes, depending on your application there is an adhesive that should work for you. The major considerations are the surface that it sticks to (substrate),the temperature range(room temperature or hotter), and the environment (wet or dry). Generally, the PS 0172 (red writing on the peel-off tape)works well on most applications, especially above 100 deg F. This adhesive takes about 24 hours to cure and is the standard heavy duty peel and stick adhesive. The PS 0115(blue writing on the peel off tape) is stronger on most room temperature applications and takes about 8 hours to cure. There is also an adhesive for elevated temperatures (up to 350 deg F) or wet environment that is called PS 0174.

Q: What is the widest VELCRO ® brand fastener I can get?
A: The widest that the standard hook and loop comes is 4". The loop(soft fuzzy side) is available in two types of special wide loop. The Veltex ® brand fastener is a wide light duty loop, available in 28 different colors, that isused for display boards and is 60" wide and is sold by the lineal yard.Heavy duty 3001 loop is similar to the loop 1000, comes in whiteor black 54" wide, and is sold by the lineal yard. There are also speciality hook tapes such as the hook 705, that are available in 12" widths.

Q: How is the VELCRO ® brand fastener sold?
A: Other than Consumer Products, VELCRO ® brand fastener are sold on rolls with the hook and loop separate. The peel and stick comes on 25 yard rolls andthe sew-on type comes on 50 yard rolls. The sew-on type is sometimes availableon 25 yard rolls. The hook and loop comes on separate rolls, so you can purchase one side or the other, and are usually the same price.

Q: Are there stretchy VELCRO ® brand fasteners available?
A: We carry a product called Velstretch ® loop that is the loop side of the VELCRO ® brand fastener that is woven with elastic and is stretchable. The hook is not available in this type of tape.

Q: Can I get colors other than white or black?
A: VELCRO ® brand fasteners are produced in many colors for large orders. We can fill small orders for special colors if we can find the products in one of our warehouses. The prices are the same, but the minimum is 50 yards per color, per side. See color chart.

Q: Is there a product available with the hook on oneside and the loop on the other (back to back)?
A: Yes, there is a new line of tapes called ONE-WRAP ® brand straps that is back to back, hook to loop, and wraps back onto itself. This tape comes on 25 yard rolls and is available in 3/8" through 2". This tape has become very popular for all types of wrapping application, from garden hosesto extension cords. There are also straps that are die-cut out of the ONE-WRAP ® brand material that are very useful in many application.

Q: Can I get special straps made from VELCRO ® brand material?
A: Yes, there is a new process that is called Custom-Strap where we can supply small orders of custom straps. There are also straps that are die-cut out of the ONE-WRAP ® brand material that are very useful in many application.

Q: Is there a more permanent adhesive than the peel and stick?
A: Yes, we have a solvent/heat activated adhesivethat comes dry on the back of the VELCRO ® brand fasteners. This adhesive is activated by heat, or a solvent such as acetone. For the most permanent bond this material is used with contact cement. Put the contact cement on the back of the VELCRO ® brand fasteners and some on your item, let it tack for 1 minute, put together and let dry overnight. This material is the same price as the peel and stick and is called 0140 precoat.

Q: Are VELCRO ® brand fasteners available in round circles?
A: Yes, these are called Velcoin ® brand fasteners and the hook and loop come on separate rolls that are equivalent to 25 yard rolls. The sizes vary from 1/2"to 1 3/8" and quantities per roll vary with the size.

Q: Are VELCRO ® brand fasteners available in cut pieces?
A: Yes, we can cut squares, rectangles, or strips for you with our specialized cutting machine. There is no charge for cut lengths over 1". If you are using the same length hook and loop pieces, we can also mate them together for you at no extra charge. The yield for your pieces would be equivalent to the roll size (900 inches for a 25 yard roll) divided by the length piece.
